The official posting for this job is at:

Before HR got at it, the job description read:

Campus Information Technologies and Educational Services (CITES) at the
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign are seeking to fill one or
more full-time Research Programmer positions in the Systems Management
Group (SMG). SMG provides UNIX and Windows system support for
CITES-provided central services, as well as UNIX support to other
campus units on a cost-recovery basis. This particular position is
responsible for providing cost-recovery services.

As such, you must possess a strong customer service orientation and the
ability to consistently deal with other people. Unhappy customers
rarely continue to pay for our services. You must also have the smarts
and the creativity to approach a wide range of tasks. Managed systems
include individual workstations, production-class-servers, and other
groups of machines. You may find yourself outfitting a research lab,
configuring a local mail server, or troubleshooting the job scheduler
of a compute cluster. Expect the phrase “other duties as assigned” to
be fully exercised.

You will work both as an individual consultant and as part of a larger,
collaborative team of information technology professionals. The
pecularities of a specific contract may mean that no one else in the
group has specific expertise in your problem or that you may share some
portion of administration duties with others in the group. You will be
expected to participate in group-wide decisions, projects, and
activites. In a group of talented individuals with distinct
personalities, it helps to be armed with a sense of humour and some
amount of respect for your colleagues.

This job is located in the United States and, due to the nature of the
work , requires the person filling to job to be on-site. Relocations
costs are not part of the salary package. Job applicants may be
international; in general, tho, we do not sponsor people for work
visas.

If you have any other questions, etc. please contact me directly at the
address given in the official job posting.
