there are several open positions in my organization at Intel - we are looking

Requisition # 472061 - Senior Linux Systems Engineer

In this position, you will be responsible for systems engineering, monitoring, maintaining, upgrading, testing, troubleshooting and recycling of UNIX* and Linux* compute servers in a distributed computing environment.
Your responsibilities will also include but not be limited to:
- Addressing technically difficult (level 3) UNIX* and/or Linux* hardware
and software issues in a large installation
- Developing and testing processes to improve and/or modify operation of
thousands of systems
- Providing third level support for customer purchased systems
- Installing, integrating drivers and testing operating systems and/or
supported enterprise applications
- Troubleshooting for errors, performing recovery steps remotely or on site
- Researching, recommending and/or implementing system enhancements that
will improve server and/or OS and/or application reliability
Qualifications
You must possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or a
related discipline. Additional qualifications include:
- Very strong proficiency with most or all aspects of UNIX* and/or
Linux* administration
- Experience with hardware repair of Intel architecture-based systems
- Working knowledge of networked and/or distributed computing environment
concept
- Strong proficiency with UNIX* and/or Linux* commands, utilities,
inter-operation in a large scale environment and Linux* kernel internals
- Strong knowledge of UNIX* and/or Linux* system administration tools
and processes
- Very strong programming language experience in languages such as
C, Perl, and Bourne* and/or C-Shell*
- Strong technical competence in Linux* systems management, kernel internals
- Strong customer interfacing skills
- Demonstrated ability to automate UNIX* system administration tasks
- Exhibit willingness to suggest areas of improvement within the department
- Excellent communication and interpreting skills

Requisition 505472 - Unix Systems Administrator

Responsibilities
In this position, you will be providing Linux* and/or UNIX* server Systems
Administration support for a large scale compute server batch pool and
associated infrastructure servers, approximately 10,000 nodes. Servers
are comprised of mainly IA-32 running Linux* (both RedHat* and SuSE*) with
smaller populations of Itanium, HPUX* and Sun* OS servers. Your
responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Testing and planning installation of new OS versions (Linux*, HPUX*, Sun* OS) to minimize disruptions to customers
- Investigating application and/or OS performance and scaling bottlenecks to determine solutions to maximize server utilization
- Monitoring server health and providing metrics and/or data to management
- Purchasing, receiving and deploying new server capacity and maintaining an inventory of replacement parts for out of warranty servers, working with technicians and/or BECs to troubleshoot and repair down systems
- Participating in 2nd level on-call group rotation, includes support center escalation, tickets and general customer requests for help
Qualifications
You must possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science
and/or Computer Engineering and four years of Linux* and/or UNIX*
Systems Administration experience; or a Master of Science degree in
Computer Science and/or Computer Engineering and two years of Linux* and/or
UNIX* Systems Administration experience. Additional qualifications include:
- Strong skills troubleshooting IA-32 hardware issues, analyzing,
troubleshooting and resolving Linux* OS configuration issues and
monitoring production server health
- Strong planning and coordinating skills to efficiently deploy new systems and make environment changes
- Experience providing 24-hour 2nd level on-call support on a rotating schedule
- Demonstrated skills writing advanced shell and Perl scripts to automate system administration tasks
- Excellent written and verbal communications
The following experience or knowledge or skills would be an added advantage:
- Experience with network administration and troubleshooting, including but not limited to NIS and DNS
- Experience performing automated installations with Kickstart*, AutoYaST*, TFTPBoot* or other PXE*-based mechanisms
- Programming with C, Python* or php*
- System Administration experience with Sun* OS, AIX* and HPUX*
