Position: Linux System Administrator
Location: Blue Bell, PA area
Permanent
Salary: commensurate with experience
Requirements:
Skill Required:
*At least (3) years of hands on experience with building servers, installing
and patching Linux operating systems and supporting production applications
in a 24x7 environment.
*Bachelor's degree in MIS/Computer Science or related technology field
preferred.
*Needs to have a strong UNIX background, Red Hat AS/ES preferred.
*Should be familiar working with the following application areas:* Apache,
Tomcat, Oracle, RADIUS, MySQL, Monitoring Software, SNMP, SMTP,DNS
*Knowledge in the following areas is preferred:
o Veritas NetBackup (preferably 6.0)
o Red Hat Network Satellite
o Storage Area Network Administration
o Red Hat Kickstart
*Sound understanding of operational processes coupled with proven business
and analytical skills.
*Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring that
commitments and timetables are met.
*Professional and diplomatic communication, verbal and written.
*Ability to partner with internal stakeholders to design operational
solutions. *Strong understanding of complex technical products.
Responsibilities Include:
*Monitors daily operations of the environment for availability and
performance.
*Develops and maintains operational documentation and specifications on
system builds and standard operating procedures.
*Troubleshoot and fix hardware and software problems as they occur.
*Troubleshoot and fix networking issues (subnet and routing knowledge
required)
*Backup and recovery of all systems and applications in the environment.
*Responsible for the identification and resolution of service level problems
and the identification and support of mission-critical tasks.
*Test and implement OS and applications patches as well as new application
deployments into the UNIX environment.
*Coordinate with the Security Administrator and Systems Analyst to improve
and maintain the technical standards of the environment.
*This is a high-availability environment and will require after-hours and
occasional weekend work to implement patches or perform system maintenance.
*Should have an understanding of basic scripting, such as Perl, CGI, and
shell.
*Must be able to work independently as well as functioning in a team
environment
*Should show good leadership potential, and have strong time management
skills.
*Commitment to continual improvement of the technical aspects of
applications and operations.
*Excellent communication skills, interacting with technical support groups,
customer support centers and vendors.
