Job Description
Reporting to the associate director of Newark Computing Services, the
systems administrator provides systems administration and programming
support for the Blackboard Academic System on the Newark Campus. The
successful candidate will: develop applications that extend the
functionality of the Blackboard system; write programs that monitor and
analyze system operation; provide technical support and make
recommendations to management on hardware, software, and operational
enhancements related to Blackboard; and participate in Blackboard team
planning sessions. In addition, this position will provide general UNIX
support for the campus centralized systems such as email, account
creation, spam and virus filters, system security, video streaming, and
web service.
Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education/work experience
plus one year experience on the Sun UNIX(Solaris) platform. One year of
relevant JAVA programming, Perl scripting, and website development
experience also required. Experience with Oracle/SQL and experience in
higher education are helpful.
