As a first step towards sorting the current confusion and considering the current membership of
>100+ on the mailing lists, I suggest the following as the primary structure for LinuxChix India.
Granular refinements can be done as part of the RFC:
LinuxChix India - Composition and Participation
=====================================
1. Membership is open to all.
2. A core working group for a specified duration to be elected from the women members.
3. Administrative authority of the resource infrastucture to be owned by the core-working group members.
4. An Advisory Group to be nominated consisting of experienced members from the Indian FOSS
community - both men and women, for a specified duration to provide guidance in the context of the
Indian FOSS scenario as and when required.
5. Women and men can participate in meetings, discussions on mailing lists and irc and other *open*
forums of the group.
6. Mentoring programs offered specifically by the group will address only women mentees. Women and
men both can volunteer as mentors. However, mentoring/volunteering opportunities of upstream
projects advertised via the group will be bound by the main project's guidelines.
======================================
Over emphasis on getting the structure in place is for the following:
@ Avoid Confusion about state of affairs
@ Prevent Ad-hoc decision making and messages
@ Providing a back-end infrastructure for the members interested in conducting various activities,
events and other programs
Kindly please comment on the above so that some order can be initiated in the process as soon as
possible.
regards
Runa
