I used to explain it all the time, until it got annoying, then I pretty 
much stopped explaining myself.  I started using the term "network 
assessor".  Or being vague and just saying - "I work in computer 
security".  To anyone who asks more details, I'll tell them what I do. 
If I get looks, I don't really care any more *shrug*.
