Tell that to the LinuxChix sysadmin - but after we get the root
password from him... :)

Seriously, I don't want anyone to get the impression that these new
logo ideas are some kind of decision handed down from on high. I
happened to have an expensive tent I didn't need any more, and one of
my friends happened to be a professional artist and to be shopping for
a tent exactly like mine. He also happened to have a really, truly
fantastic idea for a logo. If no one wants to use the logo(s) Colin
comes up with, I will gladly and happily use them on my own web site
and consider myself to have gotten the better end of the trade. In
any case, the new logo(s) will be available for everyone to use under
some kind of Creative Commons License.

We did have a contest for the LinuxChix logo before - two of them,
actually. The first one was won by a submission from a professional
artist who was, if I recall correctly, male. The second one wasn't
really won, in that we used nearly all the submissions in some place
on the web site. The one that went on the front page happened to be
my submission (no, I am not a professional artist). While it's an
okay logo, I really wanted something better and when the opportunity
arose, I took it.

Whatever we do, I would like to see a solid, coherent, professional
looking LinuxChix web site in the end. I didn't feel that the logo I
drew was up to that standard. I leave it up to the web site design
folks to make good choices.
