Could you try manually loading the module? Just type in 'modprobe
slamr' as root and see if it loads, then try running the modem-daemon
again. If it works this time, it's a problem with the autoloading
somewhere which should be fairly simple to solve. If it doesn't, check
the output of dmesg for any errors.
