Apparently the Rio Karma comes with Java-based software that runs under Linux, 
if you use the ethernet connection instead of the USB connection. (see this 
review - http://www.phataudio.org/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=195)

The iRiver can just be mounted like a regular file system and you copy files 
to it (see http://lonelymachines.org/iriver.html). 

Don't know about any other players . . . :-)
