I bet that they are assuming an HP terminal?  Does the HP box have the
hpterm command?  If so, log in to it, set your display back to your box
and run hpterm.

If it doesn't have hpterm, try running hpterm on your system and telneting
to the server from it.  I see that there is an hpterm project at
sourceforge:
