[Techtalk] Firebird vs PostgreSQL

Anyone had much experience with either Firebird (the database - the 
open-sourced Interbase fork) or PostgreSQL (and preferably both), and can 
comment on the pros and cons of each?

I'm about to start writing a cross-platform database program in Python, and am 
leaning towards Firebird since it has a well established 'native' (ie, 
non-cygwin) Windows codebase as well as Linux and Mac support.  But I would 
be interested in people's real experiences with either (or ideally both) of 
them.
