I hope everyone will forgive my snipping all the back and forth on this
subject - it was getting lengthy and I just wanted to thank all of you
for the good, thoughtful advice. I printed out all your suggestions,
and I may even try the irc, even though I've never done that before.

Bottom line, in Linux I'm wild and crazy and so I just wound up doing
the dangerous stupid thing and logged in as root and nuked everything
associated with SOT. So far, everything seems to work fine. I'm
usually a cautious person and I like to do computing things "the right
way", but then again, reinstallation is always an option. Also, I was
royally p*ss*d at the way this program handled itself.

Yes, I'm sorry to say it, but apparently Windows programmers don't have
a monopoly on what I consider rude software behavior - putting their
programs in start-up (in the Windows world), associating themselves
unasked, dumping files all over the hdd and in a non-standard manner,
and then being difficult to remove. I must say, though, that this bad
behavior seems to be the exception rather than the rule in Linux.

As for liking SuSE 8.0 and KDE 3.0, I think they are fantastic. I'm
very pleased.

Thanks again - you are all the greatest!

Cheers,

Marian
