I am writing this on my Satellite (1670) using the built-in linmodem. The package I installed is called "hsflinmodem-4.06.06.02mbsibeta02042200-1_redhat". I'm sorry but I have totally forgotten where I found it. But if you absolutely need it, I can email it to you. It seems to work pretty well, but it also seems to crash (connection dies) under heavy load. My OS is RH 7.2, kernel 2.4.9-31 (the driver works also on 2.4.7).
