Hi again, Keith here in the Depths of the Great Bergen Swamp

Yes, Lycoris/Redmond Linux defaults to a KDE desktop. I guess that my
next step is to keep reading my MAN files and figure out how to set it up
for a less memory-intensive mode as suggested.

I was lent a couple of UNIX texts to study syntax from as my lack of UNIX
background has been impeding me with Linux (I think...)

The books I borrowed are:

"The Waite Group's UNIX Prime Plus" by Waite, Martin and Prata
"Exploring the UNIX system" by Stephen G. Kochan and Patrick H. Wood

I am open to suggestions to other worthy and useful texts to work with or
from. The only limitation is that I have to be able to afford them with
the limited budgetary scraps I have after feeding and clothing two
fashion-obsessed teenaged girls (and also feeding the IRS the other
day...)
