Megans last suggestion worked great!  
rpm -qpl -v T <packagename>
it gives me everything I need.

Hmmm... not exactly like ls -al.  You can query on a group, for example.
You
can query the rpm specfile.  You can query the information page and find out
the total size of the package.  I don't know of any way to query the size of
each file.  Anyone?
