Well, a lot of it is going to depend on where you live and what
you want to do. How do you learn best? Books, a course with a
trainer, or hands-on experience? No matter which method you prefer,
I'd suggest getting your hands dirty at some point. There's no better
way to learn than to do, though supplementing experience with the
theory you get in classes or from reading tech manuals often helps
things to fall together in your head.

If you're looking for courses, you're probably going to have to
pay a good amount for them. Most technical training is either on the
job, or $1,000 a course. If you have that sort of money, I'd recommend
Mentor Technologies for people in the DC area (http://www.ccci.com/).
I haven't tried their online seminars, but have heard from others that
they're good.

Another great way to learn is to volunteer to help maintain or
develop a system. If you can, install and run Linux on your own
machine. Just digging through the internals of the system can help a
lot. Or, if you have lots of free time, many charities and educational
institutes have volunteer IT staff that help them maintain their
systems. In my experience, the sysadmins who volunteer for such things
are often glad for a little extra help.

If you can give me a few more specifics on what you want to learn
(Books? Courses? Local area network stuff with setting up servers?
Wide area network stuff with routers and switches? TCP/IP? How it all
works?) I can probably give you more specific advice.

Cheers,
Raven
