[Techtalk] Migrating data from Windows to Linux

All,

I finally got Linux Mint set up on my laptop.  Yay!

I have about 400GB of data I want to copy from one of the NTFS 
partitions (music, photos and such). I've managed to mount my NTFS 
partitions but when I look at a listing of files on those partitions, 
the displayed permissions are set at 777 for all directories and files.

Is there a way to copy them over without having to change all the 
permissions?
