After careful consideration of all the excellent advice I've received,
the strongest contenders were Crashplan and SpiderOak. They look
pretty comparable to me although I get the impression that SpiderOak's
configuration may be easier to tailor to my use case.

Final questions:

1. Do those of you who back-up to SpiderOak and CrashPlan use their
tool or your own script?

2. Does anyone have a referral link for one of these services that
they'd like to share? I'd be happy to give someone a credit since
y'all have actually referred me.

I appreciate what a wonderful source of advice this mailing list is.
Several of the runner-up choices (StrongSpace, rsync.net) also sound
appealing.

Best wishes,
Alison
