I have an older Canon Pixma that I love. Inexpensive, the inks aren't too 
pricey, and image quality is very nice. A lot of the Pixma models are 
well-supported by the CUPS+Gutenprint drivers. I don't know about longevity, 
I have some 2-year old photos in albums that still look new.
