[Techtalk] certificates

Hello,

I am using the latest stable openssl 0.9.8g-15+lenny1 to make and 
self-sign my certificates, but when I check the certificates using:

certtool -i < /etc/ssl/certs/ldap.shadlen.crt | grep Version:

I get version 1. According to this site:

http://www.debian-administration.org/users/dkg/weblog/42

the certificates should be version 3. How do I create/sign the 
certificates so they are version 3?
