[Techtalk] Slow booting since installing NFS daemons

Not the problem, we have a long wait getting loaded up on boot with no other network machines connected. However, I did look in /var/log/messages and found

rpcbind: server localhost not responding, timed out
RPC: failed to contact local rpcbind server (errno 5)
.... repeat 2 previous lines
locked_up: makesock failed, error=-5
.... repeat 2 lines again
nfsd: last server has exited, flushing export cache
.... repeat 2 lines again

I did a google on "rpcbind: server localhost not responding" and checked the ubuntu hit.

I needed to edit my etc/network/interfaces file and added in the loopback line which was commented out. How or why I do not know, but as always I was not the first with this problem.

A reboot and we were up at the login in seconds like never before!
