I am using logrotate which create files like:

/var/log/acpid
/var/log/acpid-20080921.gz
/var/log/acpid-20080928.gz
/var/log/acpid-20081011.gz
/var/log/acpid-20081012.gz

This woks perfectly with Debian/Etch.

Thanks, Greetings and nice Day/Evening
