What is this? A LAN-card?

So you have physical access to your debian-notebook - you could login, do a
cat /etc/hosts
and should see something like
---snip---
127.0.0.1 localhost
xxx.yyy.zzz.aaa hiwi.rz.hu-berlin.de debby
---snap---
Then install a putty on the windows-machines and do a
ssh -l <your_login_name> xxx.yyy.zzz.aaa (which is the IP-adress /etc/hosts
told you. Domainname also works
same with 'ifconfig' (like ipconfig /all on Windows)
On a linux machine to login to a server you should also do a 'ssh-keygen' On
Windows this should do the putty for you, i.e. there must be some
putty-keygen.exe
HTH,

p.s. this is basically nothing else than Akkana wrote, but I presume a LAN (no
DHCP) What is a hard cat5 wired connection?

My interest is in the future because I am going to spend the rest of my
life there.
