??? -- I have a PCMCIA Card which hast the Atheros-Chip and I have
a/b/g and now the R60 which has a Mini-PCI with the Atheros-Chip a/b/g
is working too (I have tried it in the Computer-Shop.)

I will buy a Thinkpad R60 (Intel Core 2 Duo T5600 with 15" Display) but
Now I am curios, since in the Description from Lenovo is writte, you
can have:

    1) ThinkPad 802.11a/b/g II
    2) ThinkPad 802.11a/b/g/n Wireless LAN Mini-PCI
    3) Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG

So it seems, the Model I get has the "Mini-PCI" Slot and I can excange
the card agains an

    4) UMTS Broadband/Wireless WAN

My selfmade Live/Rescue/Install-CD use the 2.6.23 and maybe your Ubuntu
problem is solved by using a newer Kernel?
