Generally yes... but not really.  How's that for a definitive answer? :-)

I had reasonably good success with x11vnc on the host, and just using
RealVNC on the client side (both Windows and Linux).  The bandwidth
requirements are very high.  With a typical ADSL connection (so..
120kbps up from the host side) I was able to "run" most GLX based
applications... except games.  Run is in quotes because the best I
could get was about 1 or 2 fps on a maxed out connection.
