[Techtalk] possible solution to my network issues

Could it be that my older (last summer) version of
Mandriva doesn't have the right drivers to talk to my
newer (2 months old) hp pavilion?

I spent some time on the phone with the US support
desk today, and we could ping localhost but not
anything else...
