If you want a good OS database GUI program, you could try TOra - 
http://tora.sourceforge.net/

For emulating some things, Virtual Box (http://www.virtualbox.org/) is faster 
than QEmu or Wine, and they also have a "seamless mode" where you don't have 
to deal with the Windows desktop, etc.
