[Techtalk] abcde: parameters for mp3 ripping

I'm using Ubuntu, 6,06 and since Sound juicer has decided to look for
data in a Japanese CDDB, I tried another ripper.
I tried abcde and it works, but I didn't understand how to "convince"
it to rip songs in MP3 format, instead of Ogg.
I read something around the Internet, but while the conf file may seem
explanatory (as I read somewhere) I don't think it is.
Can someone explain me where to look and, most of all, what to change
to obtain an MP3?
And, if possible, how to change the output directory?
