I occasionally find flash pages I want to see. So I use the
flashblock extension, which presents any flash content as a big
blank area with a button you can press if you want to see it.
Also, if you disable image animation but sometimes want to turn it
back on temporarily, the web developer extension includes a menu
(and toolbar, I think) option to control image animation (as well
as lots of other useful stuff).
