The iPod doesn't natively understand ogg. (There are hacks to make it
work, but I haven't tried them and I have hear it is really slow.)
Make sure that grip is configured to make mps- I don't know if siply
changing the extension in the save as dialog will do this. IME, grip
has only ever made mp3s, I didn't even _know_ it supported ogg :)
And yeah, you don't need the m3u files- you can onfigure grip to not
create t4hem, if you want.

That all depends on many things I don't know about your level of
experience and what distribution you are using :)
This would be a major change if you REPLACE gtk, as it will affect
almost all the non-QT GUI stuff on your system. I have heard that it
is possible to install two versions of gtk on one system though, so
you may want to look into that.
I would say go for it, as GTK 2 has been out for quite a while now,
and you are sure to have t his problem with other packages in the
future.
Also, are you trying to compile from source, or are you trying to
install an RPM/use apt/use portage?

I can't wait for EDLIN to be ported for Windows.
