OK, this is what not getting enough sleep does, my source list was all wrong.
Like, where's the colons, dude:

dawns,Dawn Marie Schroder,,,,foo
nikitah,Nikita Horse,,123-4567,equine
rubst,Rubs The Cat,101,,234-5678,,

This works:
dawns:Dawn Marie Schroder,,,,foo
nikitah:Nikita Horse,,123-4567,equine
rubst:Rubs The Cat,101,,234-5678,,
