I agree with you both, and I would love to see the original of the emails.
They are getting the email address off of the website that I run as a
community service.
I use a dns service to translate the receive email from the domain name to
my real address.

Or your correspondent is confusing spam with a virus, calling it spam when
in fact it's simply that someone with your address in their address book has
a virus that's occasionally choosing you as a bogus "from."

Astonishing how often folks can't tell the one from the other.
