My personal favorite when I was just starting out was Professional PHP4 by
Argerich et. al. from Wrox Press (I literally sat on the floor for an hour
in Borders and looked through everything they had about 6 months ago). 
Between that and the PHP documentation, I haven't had a real need for
anything else.
