Ok, and update, looking at the log, here is what I found for the CD-access
problem:

At the beginning it said "UDF-fs: No VRS found". Now I know that's good
that it's UDF, it's supposed to be. But the "No VRS found" - Virtual R????
System? IOW, it burned the files but didn't put it in a recognizable file
system? Or, did I in not installing some file systems like VFS and other
stuff, could that affect it? I don't have like VFS or Reiserfs or anything
but what I need just for linux (ext3, vfat capability).

Maybe I didn't put some packages in that I should have? I'm wondering.

Or it might just be that I didn't burn it right the first time around...
:(

I'm tempted to wipe everything, reinstall Windows, and see if that will
read it enough to get the data, then get it onto a normal CD-R and
reinstall Linux again. I also might try copying this disk to a plain CD-R
and seeing if I can read it then.

Hamster's idea of a raw read didn't even work though. So I don't know how
much luck I'm going to have. :/
