Take a look at http://is-it-true.org/nt/atips/atips120.shtml... it's pretty much specific to NT, but it will give you a brief description of the way INT13 works and the restrictions you'll need to deal with if you use it. If the target partition is small (<7.5Gb), the restrictions won't matter and you might pick up some performance ***if*** Linux uses low-level BIOS functions to read and write for this type of partition.
