A Google search for "Schneier pronounce" gives me this page:

The bottom question is:

  Q.: OK: last question. How does he pronounce his name?
  A.: It rhymes with "flyer."

which suggests "sh - nie - er" to me (the "ie" in "nie"  I intend to
mean the long vowel we use for "I" and "eye", but "nI" or "neye"
wouldn't convey what I mean :( )
