For the reference of those are are interested, setting the shutter to
about 1/15th of a second will usually give a good, readable picture of a
monitor, but you'll need to put the camera on something steady so it
doesn't blur.
It'll work best if you can set it manually do this, because a camera
expects what it's pointing at to average out at being grey, and if you're
pointing it at a mostly black screen with white writing, this doesn't come
out to the "right" grey and is constantly flashing, it confuses most
cameras.
Of course, this doesn't help if you have a camera that won't let you
adjust this, but hey :)
