i'm running Mandrake 9.2 on a Sony Vaio PCG-FX101... i can't seem to get
the modem working.
had a look at the pages reccomended but they're either out of date and
disappeared, or a proprietary modem driver- and i just dont do
i tried using KPPP to query the modem. i can get it to find the modem on
/dev/ttyS0, or /dev/modem, but it will say 'the modem does not respond'.
on other ports it just says cannot find modem.
from my logs it seems to be sharing irq5 with the soundcard, and i'm
wondering if this is a variation on the classic Red Hat conflict with
soundcard and modem - which i've battled with over many Mandrake installs.
