You should be able to interrupt the boot process and get to the ISL 
(Initial System Load aka IPL Initial Program Loader).  I'm not positive 
that this is exactly right for your hardware, but it's something like this:

During the power up sequence press <ESC>.  This will give you a <Main Menu: 
Enter command or menu> prompt.

At the prompt type:
 > boot pri isl

When it asks <Interact with IPL?> answer yes

When you see the ISL prompt type this to get to single user mode:
ISL>  hpux -is

This should boot you to single user mode (where you don't need a 
password).  Then just change the passwd to something you know.
