I do that all the time.
I like Evolution as a mail client, but do not have it installed on
my machine, but on my brothers'. I run evolution remotely by the command:
ssh -f OTHERMACHINE at NETWORK evolution
I've made a shortcut to a script containing the above command. But,
one annoying thing is that it asks you for the password. This can be
overcome by using a public key.
My brother doesn't even know !
