Hi

Thanks Conor, for trying to help me. Unfortunately none of your suggestions
worked and I'm ready to give up. Partly because I'm sick of it and partly
because I'm going on leave for two weeks from tomorrow.

For the sake of interest (or frustration!) I post the contents of my fstab
file and the output of fdisk -l below.

fstab
-----
LABEL=/	/		ext3		defaults		1 1
LABEL=boot	/boot		ext3		defaults		1 2
none		/dev/pts	devpts	gid=5,mode=620	0 0
none		/proc/	proc		defaults		0 0
none		/dev/shm	tmpfs		defaults		0 0
/dev/hda5	swap		swap		defaults		0 0
/dev/cdrom	/mnt/cdrom	iso9660	noauto,owner,kudzu,ro	0 0
/dev/fd0	/mnt/floppy	auto		noauto,owner,kudzu	0 0
/dev/hda1	/mnt/windows	vfat	gid=0,mode=777	0 0
/dev/hda3	/mnt/oulinux	ext3	defaults

output of fdisk -l
------------------
Disk /dev/hda:255 heads, 63 sectors, 1216 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 bytes

   Device	Boot	Start End Blocks	Id	System
/dev/hda1	   *	    1	     1216    9767488+      c	Win95 FAT32 (LBA)

Disk /dev/hdb:255 heads, 63 sectors, 2434 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 bytes

   Device	Boot	Start End Blocks	Id	System
/dev/hdb1	   *	    1	       13     104391    83	Linux
/dev/hdb2	    	   14	     2402   19189642+   83	Linux
/dev/hdb3	    	 2403	     2434     257040    82	Linux swap

Once gain, thanks for everyone's efforts to help me.

Regards
Hanlie
