[Techtalk] Debian 3 and X-server

Hi,
yestarday I tried to install Debian 3.0 on my laptop (acer TM)....
and I can't run the X-server.

After login when I type startx I see an error message :

" xinit: No such file or directoyr(errno 2) : non server "X" in PATH
  Use the --option, or make sure that /usr/X11R6/bin is in your path and
that "X" is a program or a link to the right type of server for your
display.Possible server names include:

 XFree86   XFree86 displays

xinit: unexpected signal 2 "

I was wondering if it could be a problem of hardware (the screen) or
something else? I've never configured a server X.....
Any idea about how to solve that?
