Since I'm in the middle of this mess, and currently drafting a text that
I hope will defuse the flaming, I would encourage a little more
tolerance.

Slapping you for something that sprung wildly from a proper post is
definitely inconsiderate of the slappers. That what was said flash fired
so severely was not intended to do so. *MY* appologies for what has
broadsided you.

As for those who are so quick to attack a moderator: they have jobs and
lives outside the web. They moderate because they want to and to
associate with others. This doesn't mean that they live online at
everyone's beck and call.

As for my apparent infraction: I answered a request for help and did so.
The thank you included a comment about open source standardizing
genetics. My reply intended to voice a concern for ethics of WHO should
standardize genetics, but in my OWN clumsy way incited a flame. The
resulting flames created the request to move to another forum or list.

While I agree that the current flaming section should be in a different
list, the original requests and answers DO NOT.

Now, give me time to finish my draft and review it for any possible
flare ups and I'll post again to the 'flame war' (there really haven't
been THAT many messages in the war so far :) ).

As for the slappers, shame on you! Moderators should be treated with
respect. They have a very thankless and in most cases, unpaid job.

Alvin
