I'm replying on-list because I just confirmed with my SuSE colleague that
they use in fact use long names (they possibly had it in the past so you
could install from DOS formatted floppies which is kind of a non-issue
nowadays). Ashes on my head and all that ;-). Anyway they seem to have
yelled louder when strange package names were given out ;-).
