[Techtalk] GNU Emacs and Email Question

hi.

I'm a newbie to both EMACS and sendmail and I'm trying to configure 
outgoing email.  I'm having some trouble with sending mail to my domain 
which requires authentication.  At least I think that's what's 
happening.  I get a basic "Sending failed; SMTP protocol error".

Because I'm so new at this, please let me know if I've missed some huge 
basic step.
