[Techtalk] XMMS SMPEG and Ogg Vorbis reprise

Dear LxCx TT

I am trying to instal SMPEG plug-in in Xmms. It seemed like a good idea 
etc. I am running SuSE 7.3. which comes with Xmms 1.2.5

When I ./config'ed I discovered I do not have GLIB1.2.2. To my complete 
ignorance this seemed odd in that I would have guessed maybe SuSE would 
have this installed or a more recent version for KDE Media Player. 

I am an extra newby newby so I am in great danger of stuffing up. 

Should I go ahead and download and install GLIB 1.2.2 or am I missing 
something obvious? Is there a better plug in for mpegs on XMMS? Oh, I 
know I could stick with Noatun but I like Xmms lots.

[BTW thanks for replies re the Ogg Vorbis Player. I should have said I 
meant hardware. I checked Xilph which had no such project. I might try a 
list there. If I hit pay dirt and anyone wants to know tell me and I will 
pass it on.]
