[Techtalk] how to install Tomcat etc. with Apache

Hi

I have an up to date Debian testing system which currently has 
Apache/mySQL/PHP installed and working. I'm currently mainly an ASP developer 
but hoping to transition to Java as opposed to moving to .NET

However, I seem to be having a hell of a time getting the various Java bits 
to work on my machine and wondered if anyone knew of a relatively easy to 
follow walkthrough of what needs to be installed where. Most things I have 
found seem to presume you are on a windows system, and I've had it all set up 
on doze, but i would rather work on Linux (which is a big reason for trying 
to get away from .NET)
