I betcha it's a simple inittab edit. Somewhere in the installation process
you are given some login options, I don't remember if this comes in the
custom install or all of them. But it matters not, this is an easy fix, just
change your runlevel in /etc/inittab to 5:
"This line follows a section listing the default runlevels. ....
id:5:initdefault: will start X and take you directly into a graphical
environment. id:3:initdefault: stops the boot process at a black screen that
says localhost login:"
