[Techtalk] Kernel issues

This answer to this may be a very obvious, but working with the kernel is
not my forte.  Basically, on the weekend I was pulling my hair out trying to
get a 2.4 kernel & iptables firewall to work.

I was hacking on my server box now in preparation for the release of
Slackware 8.1, which (if slackware-current is reflecting) will only come
with 2.4.18.  If I drop it down to 2.2.20/21 and use my current IPchains
setup (pmfirewall), should everything be okay?  I'll use the hacking box to
experiment with, and maybe I'll figure things out.  (fingers crossed)
