Greetings, all. I am hoping that someone's experience will be similar enough to mine to be helpful with a couple of problems I am having with my Courier mail server. The machine is running Debian kernel 2.4.18. Courier uses courier-maildrop for the MTA. The mistake I made from the beginning was using a Debian package rather than installing Courier from source.
Here are the two problems I am having:
1) There is an email attempting to be delivered to one of my users, and the message it is creating in the logs is: 534 Message header size, or recipient list, exceeds policy limit. After having searched Google, I found that the solution was to edit the Header limit in submit.C, but this doesn't appear to be an option for me because of my Debian package install. I'm wondering if anyone knows a way to define this limit and in what file when using Courier installed as a Debian package?
2) Also, I still cannot send large attachments. I set up my user-of-large-attachments to ftp info to the webserver, so I am not required to fix this "problem". Apparently, I could have defined the attachment size limit while compiling Courier had I chosen to install from source.
Does anyone know of workarounds that don't involved recompiling Courier for these two problems? It is pretty frustrating, and even Google hasn't been my friend on these issues.
Thanks in advance to anyone who has an idea... Ellie
